December is here, and the motorsport season is in full swing. Unfortunately for me, it is yet to swing at all. The opening round of the 2013/2014 Drift UAE season was cancelled due to rain and rescheduled, and now clashes with the Extreme Superlap as well as the yearly GTZ UAE Charity Drag event at Yas Marina Circuit. As much as I’d like to run the Nissan 350Z in four different events on one day, I don’t think it is physically possible.

Meanwhile the 350Z has been sitting collecting dust during November as its registration has expired and I have unfortunately been unable to drive it. You may also remember from last month’s update that I’ve been updating the suspension, and am awaiting KW Clubsport Coilovers from the USA. Annoyingly, I was sent the wrong parts from a vendor, which means I need to reorder the correct items and ship the old ones back.

With the suspension waiting on these critical few parts, it has been a tedious waiting game. Extreme Super Lap entry deadlines are looming and I still hope to have the Nissan ready for early next month. Last year I managed to win first place in the Street category, but with my new suspension parts I will be bumped up to the turbo-wielding Super Street class, which with my stock engine makes my chances of winning look slim.

The first true shakedown of all the new parts will be at the upcoming Time Attack round at the Yas Marina Circuit, where it will mostly be a setup and test session. If I take home a trophy I definitely wouldn’t be too upset. If any crankandpiston fans out there happen to be around and fancy a lap of the circuit, I’d be more than happy to oblige.
