Did you have an artistic background?
No. From the beginning, design and motorsports was my thing, my passion. They come together and work perfectly.
What do you use to create the helmets?
There’s not really any airbrushing, it’s more a print and paint technique. We can print very small details that it’s not possible to paint. Airbrushing is better for a Harley.
How big is the company?
I have nine employees. We do a lot of individual paintworks for customers and a lot of replicas for collectors or business. They’re all done by hand.
Are you looking for new customers in the Middle East?
Yes! I see a lot of racing drivers here but too many of them have white helmets! I think it’s very nice to have perhaps an Emirates flag or something else. We can do a lot for the people here.
Why is there a desire to personalise helmets? After all, it’s mainly there for protection.
For a Formula 1 driver, it’s the last thing to show individuality. They have a team race suit and shoes, but the helmet is theirs. On the track it’s the only thing they have. The last freedom for the drivers.
Sebastian is looking good for the championship again this year. Have you discussed with him a celebratory helmet for the last race?
I don’t think I can ask him. He never wants to speak about the championship before he has won it, so there’s been no planning!
