Barely a car-length separated the two as they circulated the Yas Marina south circuit, and several times Canal threw almost impossibly late braking dives into turn one. Several times Mayer held the racing line through the turn two/three chicane and was able to maintain position. Canal would not be thwarted though, and finally got the job done on lap 19. Seatter, already nine seconds ahead, was out of striking distance, and duly took victory ahead of Canal and Mayer.
