The name Fazza is more commonly associated in the Middle East with powerboating, but it could soon emblazon a Dubai entry into the World Rally Championship.

Fazza has seen considerable success on water but the newly formed rally team scored an impressive second place during its debut at the Kuwait Rally last month. That’s led to its umbrella organisation, Dubai’s Victory Team, to state their intention to enter the WRC in 2012.

The Fazza-emblazoned Skoda Fabia of Rashid Al Ketbi and Khaled Al Kendi finished behind Dakar champ Nasser Al Attiyah in Kuwait, and the pair are now focused on this weekend’s Jordan Rally, which as well as being a round of the Middle East Rally Championship is also a WRC event.

Mohammed Mubarak Al Mutaiwei, board member for the Victory Team, told Sport 360 that the experience would pay the way for an entry into the WRC next year.

Emirati driver Sheikh Khalid Al Qassemi already represents the UAE in WRC, racing with the Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally team.
