C&P Racing Golf GTI. What’s actually happening

As you may well have noticed, we have our own race car here at crankandpiston that has been tucked away all summer having bits and bobs done to it so that we can come back next season and try to push ourselves further up the grid.

Last season was a great learning curve with the car and considering we ran it predominantly stock, myself, Gary, Andy, Glen and Alan where all super happy with how the car ran and how we lined up against the competition – especially considering how far we managed to punt it up the field!

However that quest for more speed has been bugging me, so here is the story of where we are going..

It all started here – Jarkko! The crazy Fin… I had been chatting with Steve McLintock and Chris Wishart about going wide and idea’s for contacts in the UAE that could pull it off. Those conversations led me to the door of Jarkko.

The last picture I have of the car in it’s previous guise. Still looked superb but was calling out to me that extra width was needed.

Stage one! After deciding just how we were going to do the wings Jarkko’s chap got to work. The speed and efficiency was second to non. I dropped in a couple of times over the period of a week from start to finish…super fast! Bear in mind this is the process that the moulds will come from.

Jarkko came up trumps with the front splitter – Via an Audi 24Hrs racer to the C+P racer. There are some tidy little touches with the splitter that will drive much needed air towards the Intercooler.

Last but not least for this instalment is the superb design that Leigh Evans has come up with for us. Inspired by my favourite race car of all time (take a guess) it should go as well as it will look.
