The day BMW launched the 17th BMW Art car, this time designed by Jeff Koons, I fell in love. There is something so effortlessly cool about it and with 2010 Nurburgring 24hr GT2 winning pedigree it was in with a chance. With Dirk Werner, Dirk Müller and WTCC uber star Andy Priaulx at the wheel you could say they were half way there before the race started.

However! Things didn’t no go anywhere near the proposed plan. WIth punctures, leading to body and suspension damage and a bonkers situation including a desperate attempt by Andy Priaulx to get the limping M3 back to the pits after another puncture and an eventual podium Audi LMP1 monster, it wasn’t a good race.

Mind you, at least the weather provided a treat the day that David Lister put his light capturing device into action. Stunning work from the legendary motorsport photographer.
