Bentley Continental GT Mulliner coupé revealed

The Continental GT has gained yet another special edition, with Mulliner applying its hand to the coupé

The Bentley Continental GT has seen its share of special editions since it went on sale in 2018, so to add one more to the tally, the brand’s Mulliner division has now worked its magic on the coupé, joining the flagship Mulliner Continental GT Convertible.

The GT Mulliner coupé follows its drop-top sibling with a number of Mulliner-specific additions to the already opulent package. Scheduled to make its global debut at Salon Privé alongside the $1.9m Bentley Mulliner Bacalar, it’s available in both 626bhp W12 and 542bhp V8 forms – 0-100kph comes in 3.6sec for the W12 and three tenths later for the V8, while top speed comes at 333kph and 318kph respectively.

Unique to the Mulliner editions are the ‘Double Diamond’ front grille, with matching vents bearing the same design coming complete with Mulliner branding. Mirror caps are finished in satin silver and include unique Mulliner welcome lamps, with the illuminated door sills also featuring the coachbuilder’s name. Fresh 22-inch wheels are also unique to the model, finished in a chrome and painted design with a self-righting Bentley badge.

Inside, buyers have almost endless options for customisation, with the hand polished burr walnut veneer available in 88 different finishes, alongside eight new three-colour combinations for the rest of the cabin. To ensure you don’t forget you’re in the top-spec Continental GT, Mulliner logos are scattered throughout, including on the headrests and on the passenger side of the dashboard.

Taking pride of place at the centre of the dash is a Breitling clock, with its brushed metal dial finish replicated on the digital gauges that sit on the now-iconic rotating display. A new ‘diamond milled technical finish’ is also used for the centre console, contrasting against the polished wood.

As you’d expect, each model will come with the Mulliner Driving Specification as standard, giving buyers ‘Diamond in Diamond’ quilting on the seats, door trims and rear quarter panels – each of these diamonds is comprised of a staggered 712 stitches, making for a total of around 400,000 stitches for the entire cabin.

As if all of this wasn’t enough, even the leather pouches for the keys will match your specification, as will the piping on the floor mats.

Order books for the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner coupé are set to open in October, with first cars due to hit the road in early 2021.
