One year after Chevrolet announced that its NASCAR challenger – the Impala SS – would be replaced came the unveiling of the new race-spec Camaro, with which GM will be represented in the Nationwide series.

This brings the Impala’s five year NASCAR tenure to a close, during which it scored 79 wins in the Nationwide series. The first came in 2007 at the Food City 500 in Bristol – on its debut – courtesy of Kyle Busch. A significant enough achievement in its own right, the Impala SS was also the first Car of Tomorrow  (a cheaper, more competitive alternative to the established racers that preceded it) to win a NASCAR sanctioned event.
