F1 car v V8 Supercar v Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG

A very fast road car takes on a touring car and a Formula 1 car ahead of the Australian Grand Prix. We all know which is quickest, but by how much?

Just how much faster than a quick road car are racing cars? This question has been asked (and answered) many times before, but it’s always nice to see a new attempt. To demonstrate the relative speeds of racing cars, a demonstration was organised ahead of the weekend’s Australian Grand Prix on the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne.

A Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG, driven by five-time motorbike world champion Mick Doohan, sets off around the track. 17 seconds later, a Holden Dunlop V8 supercar driven by two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner follows. And 40 seconds after the Merc left, David Coulthard sets off in pursuit in his Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car (extra points if you can tell us which one).

So, which one finishes the lap first?
