VIDEO. Drag Race. ZL1 Vs Hellcat, who’s your money on?

Hennessey Performance decided to settle this once and for all, and put the two gladiators on a rolling drag race.

Car Engine Horsepower Torque 0-100kph Top speed Curb Weight
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 6.2L Superchaged V8 LT4 650hp 650lb-ft 3.5secs beyond 322kph 1763kg
Dodge Challenger Hellcat 6.2L Supercharged V8 HEMI 707hp 650lb-ft 3.6secs 320kph 2013kg

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat has finally gotten its nemesis closing up on it in the horsepower game, and that’s what everyone is talking about on the internet: “Challenger’s heavier, ZL1’s lighter, but Hellcat has more horsepower, but still ZL1 is lighter therefore should be quicker, blah blah blah”. Hennessey had enough, so they got the two vehicles and put them in an oldschool rolling drag race to end the talks.

*SPOILER ALERT* In two out of the three runs, the Hellcat took the lead and stayed there throughout the whole race beating the Camaro, while on the third race, the Camaro was able to keep up for a little bit, until the Hellcat took the lead in less than a second. An important fact though: The Camaro being used in the video has a manual transmission, while the Hellcat is auto, and that changes a lot when in all three races, the results was very close. So this race can be a lot more interesting if both cars have matching transmissions.

So the Hellcat won this race, but I’m more interested to see some laptimes if both cars go on track. Yes, that means there will be corners.
