VIDEO. CarBoom! Slow-mo destruction

A new series from Autoblog – CarBoom! – takes some of the most miserable morsels from motoring history and blows the ever-loving piss out of them. In slow motion.

Now, traditionally at crankandpiston.com, we’re not overly big on crashes, accidents or the wanton destruction of steel and carbon fibre (thousand apologies to all the braying hyenas out there). This though did grab out attention.

It’s a new miniseries from Autoblog – CarBoom! – and is described by the chaps themselves as ‘shameless, hedonistic, frequently pyrotechnic fun’ (what’s not love?). In each video, a selection of cheap four-wheeled monsters will be destroyed in the most violent, sadistic and, hopefully, entertaining manner possible – “we’re talking cliff diving, ninja-sword wielding, giant metallic fire-breathing” – all designed to blow and otherwise cripple the living shit out of some of the most retched creations to ever fall off the production line: we heartily recommend the ‘giant fireball’ at 1m 10s in Autoblog’s opening instalment, an act of pure demolition the mere sight of which would give Michael Bay himself that…funny feeling. And I apologise for the image now running through your heads…

More destruction every week with Autoblog’s CarBoom! on Wednesdays, so be sure to get your votes in for the next round of victims. For us, it’s the Ford Pinto, the Pontiac Aztek, and the FIAT Multipla. May they all perish in fiery, slow-mo agony…
