Porsche will unveil both the newly updated 911 Turbo and Turbo S at January’s North American Motor Show in Detroit ahead of a 2016 launch.

Following in the footsteps of the new 911 Carrera – the first turbocharged example of the Carrera since the model line arrived in 1964 – the new Turbo and Turbo S receive a 20hp power hike from the same 3.8-litre biturbo six-cylinder as its predecessor, the former now kicking out 540hp, the latter 580hp. Top speeds have also risen to 320kph and 330kph respectively, while the 0-100kph times drop to a flat three and 2.9 seconds respectively, the latter now on par with the Koenigsegg One:1. Each model retains Porsche’s established seven-speed dual clutch gearbox, but torque figures have yet to be confirmed.

Cosmetic changes to the facelifted models are subtle, the newboys boasting new-look 20in centre locking wheels, modified door handles (yep, exciting stuff), restyled taillights and a re-profiled bumper. Inside the Turbo and Turbo S receive a new 360mm-diameter steering wheel (with rotary driving mode controller (as seen on the Porsche 918), and an updated Porsche Communication Management system. That’s code for ‘the satnav’s been updated’.

Prices start from $185K and $215K for the Coupes, while the Cabriolet’s retail for $199K and $229K respectively. Right, onto the video….
