NINE cars you’ll want to check out at Goodwood

Nothing tells you that summer has finally arrived quite like the Goodwood Festival of Speed. And if last year’s Mazda 787 hill climb wasn’t enough to get us hyped up for the 2016 event, we’ve come up with a few more enticing options for you.

1. McLaren 570S Sprint

A few months ago we brought you news of the 570S GT4 that would be joining the British GT ranks (testing footage of which from Rockingham you can check out HERE). At the time, Woking also mentioned that a new 570S Sprint would also be joining its Sports Series division as the category’s ‘most track-focused model’. It’s taken a while but the elusive newboy will finally make its debut on the Goodwood hill on Friday as part of the largest ever McLaren presence on Lord March’s ever-expanding driveway, sitting alongside the McLaren P1 GTR, 650S Can-Am, and 675LT as it does so.

‘Helpfully’, McLaren has yet to reveal any solid technical and/or performance details on the 570S Sprint yet, only that it shares the same 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 and carbon fibre MonoCell II monocoque as every other Woking-designed model since the MP4-12C rolled off the conveyor in 2009. However, we can expect a GT3-inspired radiator, more aggressive front splitter and floor assembly, and a large carbon fibre fixed rear wing on the Sprint, all of which combine to produce the highest level of downforce ever on a Sports Series model.
