With the UAE National Racing Championships just around the corner, it has been surprisingly quiet when it comes to speculation and online chatter regarding cars, teams and drivers. So it came as a pleasant surprise when this info just dropped into our inbox at the c&p.com loft.

Over the last couple of seasons the quality of entries has been improving at a super fast rate. The news then that Leon Price will be bringing his super-sexy Ferrari 458 GT3 machine to the region is proof that the championship has a strong footing.

Added to this good news, AUH Motorsport has been chosen to spanner the car during its challenge and will also be there ensuring the team’s Dubai 24hrs endeavour runs smoothly. Don’t forget that AUH Motorsport holds a trophy from a class win from the arduous race, the next of which is penned to run during early January next year. So plenty of credence there then.

We are itching to see the car in the flesh and if we can persuade the AUH guys and gals to let us through the back door when it arrives, we’ll be sure to bring you an exclusive shoot.

Press Release >>>

AUH Motorsports today announced that they will be providing full race support services for Leon Price’s Ferrari 458 GT3 in the 2011/12 UAE GT National Championship races as well as the 2012 Dubai 24 hours.
The car was delivered from Michelotto in April this year and has been undergoing development work in the UK prior to its arrival in Dubai later this month.

As part of this development, the car has been competing in the UK GT Trophy Endurance Series and driven by Leon and Rob Barff has won its last three races.

Leon’s friend and experienced international race driver, Rob Barff, will co-drive the car in the UAE Championship.  The car has also been entered in the Dubai 24 hours and Leon and Rob will be joined by local resident & Radical Sportscar Champion, Jordan Grogor.

Carl Rolaston, Team Principal at Dubai based AUH Motorsports said, ”we welcome the addition of the Ferrari into the AUH Motorsports race team.  It is a sign of Leon’s confidence in the team that he has entrusted us to run his car.  The addition of the Ferrari 458 Italia onto the National Race Series grid reflects the growing recognition of the UAE as a place where drivers can enjoy great motorsports competition and is the ideal place to spend the European Winter season.”

The car will be engineered by renowned British race engineer, Ian Bickerton.  Bickerton, recently announced as the new AUH Team Manager, brings to the UAE a huge depth of motorsport experience and will be a fundamental team member for the forthcoming season.

Leon Price, who recently moved to Dubai, said “Rob and I are delighted that we can race the car in this championship and we look forward to a great competition”

And from Le Mans 24 Hour racer Rob Barff, “Very rarely does an opportunity like this arise.  I’m in a hugely privileged position and will do my absolute maximum to enable Leon and I to win the 2011/12 UAE GT Championship.  The car is a proven race winner & I look forward to adding to the win tally in the near future.”
