Toyota have been teasing us non stop with concept versions of the highly anticipated FT-86 for what seems nigh on five years now (exaggeration). However surprise of all surprises, they have gone an done an LFA. What we mean, is that under the auspice of Gazzoo Racing, Toyota have subtly entered a production ready FT-86 into the arduous VLN Championship, held at the Nürburgring in Germany.

So how did “hachiroku” get on? Third in its class (SP3), beating an a BMW M3 and a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup on route… Overall it came home in 120th place (yes the grids are that big), six laps back from the winning Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

So that’s a thorough test on the Ring completed then! Now give…

  1. Another step closer to reality. With every glipmse I get more excited!
Finishing 3rd in class is still an amazing result for a development model.

Following in the LFA’s footsteps; is that a bad thing? FT86/FR-S is like LFA Jr.
If it’s 1/100th as good for $30 odd grand it will be a hell of a lot of fun!!
