Audi R18 at Yas Marina

We may have stumbled across something here. Rumour has it this is one of the first shots of Audi’s revised R18 TDI Le-Mans Prototype, and is therefore due to replace the company’s current class-leading model.

Like the R8 and R15 TDI before it, the R18 immediately made waves shortly after its official launch. Not only was it the first ever car to run with full LED headlights, it was also Audi’s first LMP car to be built with a roof in over a decade. It also secured Audi’s 10th win in 13 starts at the Le Mans 24Hr endurance race.

Though nothing has yet been confirmed, the car’s recent appearance at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi suggests an extensive test session is due to take place in the near future. Crankandpiston will be sure to provide you with more details as and when they arise.
