As the anticipation builds for this year’s rescheduled Pikes Peak International Hill Climb some of the teams are teasing us with press releases of their mountain monsters.

LoveFab for example will be tackling the Race to the Clouds this year in an 850hp, twin-turbo NSX piloted by owner Cody Loveland and sponsored by HRE Wheels.

After seeing these short videos of a LoveFab NSX testing with only a miserly 500hp at the wheels we wonder if some of the other teams, including Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima, will be regretting the decision to run electric racers this year.

A claimed 600hp at the wheels is hard to argue with but, unlike the electric cars, it will struggle for power at the higher altitudes. A battle between high octane and battery power will be fought this year and the conclusion is far from certain. I guess we will find out on the 12th of August.
