There’s been a lot of talk about Pike’s Peak over the last few days, and rightly so – it’s been the fastest, most tarmac’d event on record thanks in large part to Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajira and his sub-10 minute run up the Colorado mountain.

But amid the fuss over the superstars doing battle, the everyday Joe and his shed-built nutter machine has been overlooked by the world at large. We’re righting that wrong right now, with the help of ace photographer Eric Fabre, who’s been snapping the amazing range of cars that battle the 19.9km course. Everything from Cobra and Mustang to sidecar and SEAT went up the hill in 2011, and we pay tribute to every one of them for making Pikes Peak International Hill Climb the legendary event that it continues to be.
