Recently McLaren unveiled the new-for-2013 McLaren MP4-12C, a production model of which former-Formula One World Champion Jenson Button will put through its paces at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb.

Turns out though that there is also a GT3 version on the way too. Now before you get too excited, performance figures have yet to be released. But given that power from the Macca’s 3.8l twin-turbo V8 has been ‘hoiked up’ from 591hp to 616hp, it’s reasonable to expect much the same from the track-spec model plus a few more bells and whistles.

McLaren has even unveiled the livery with which it will be adorned at the Festival. True the jury’s still out regarding the ‘Great’ vinyl stretched across the top of the windscreen, but the Union Jack livery is likely to appeal to the British contingent amongst you.

Indeed, it’s made a few of us feel quite patriotic. Even as we speak the hunt is on for a straw boater to join the office Stetson. Contributions are always welcome…
