At 3pm on the balmy afternoon on Saturday June 13th in the sleepy town of Le Mans in Northern France, a grid of 55 endurance racers began the first lap of the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans.

24 hours of non-stop racing later and just half of the starters crossed the finish line. The diesels LMP1s of Peugeot and Audi fought tooth and nail throughout – but it was to be Audi’s year as they brought home a perfect 1-2-3.

One Peugeot retired with crash damage just two hours into the slogfest and another’s turbocharger exploded putting it out of action.

The pride of the French rested on just one car, the team put in a strong performance – including a spectacular drive by Anthony Davidson.
