‘Beast’ springs to mind.

Hardly surprising. This non-homologated race-tuned version of the Ferrari 599XX (which in itself is a tuned version of the 599 GTB, but the list goes on…) caught a lot of unsuspecting petrol heads by surprise.

Aside from the enormous DRS active rear wing, the top banana Ferrari 599XX ‘Evolution Package’ boasts a few select differences to its road going elder brother. The 6.0l V12 engine, for example, produces a quite staggering 740bhp (that’s 20bhp than the standard 599XX) and rips from 0-100kph in 2.9s. Plus let’s not forget that pesky 315kph top speed either.

Since its debut at the Bologna Motor Show in November ’11, the 599XX EVO has been particularly busy, appearing on stands at a number of Ferrari Clienti Corse events across Europe, as well as its first official on-track outing at Suzuka earlier this year.

So successfully has the EVO planted itself in petrolhead dream garages across the world that one model has been built especially for the www.ferrari.com online auction – due to kick off at 4pm CET today, by the by – setup to aid victims of the recent earthquake in the Italian Emilia Romagna region.

And for those of you thinking about snapping up a sweet deal, the reserve price is just shy of $1.7 million. All together now: “Ouch!”
