Feelin’ racey // Dubai Motor Show
Although motor shows are generally about promoting and flogging road cars, it does no harm at all to add a liberal smattering of racing machinery to one’s stand. After all, who doesn’t like a racing car? Dubai Motor Show was no exception, so let’s take a quick look at the speed demons flaunting themselves for the Arabian populous. We’ll start with this Volkswagen Polo R WRC, which as the name suggests will soon be a regular feature in the World Rally Championship.
With the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix weekend in full swing as we write this, we’re hoping that this Red Bull Racing RB7 is a mock up. Or Sebastian Vettel’s going to be annoyed.
Subaru’s got serious motorsport history, so to see an Impreza – complete with race-earned cracked windscreen – was no surprise.
We weren’t expecting to see this frankly awesome Super GT though. Hooray for something unexpected, low and bewinged.
Ah, an old friend. Pop to a Middle East racetrack over the winter and you’re likely to bump into a whole field of these Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeos, competing in the Masterati Trofeo JBF RAK Middle East championship.
One of the show’s biggest surprises was this Dallara single seater, next to sign promoting the Dallara Middle East Championship. Of which we currently no nothing at all, but a new local racing series is fine by us. Sadly, the stand was devoid of people to ask about it.
Skoda doesn’t have the biggest profile in the Middle East, but it should. Especially if we get to see more of this Super 2000 rally car.
Ah Porsche 918 RSR. How we love you. So, so much.
Best. Sofa. Ever. Working headlights and everything. Wantwantwant.
