Track day in June at the Dubai Autodrome? Got to be a joke, right? Who in their right mind would get out of bed at stupid o’clock to race their car on track in the searing summer heat? Evolver’s. That’s who.

Evolve.ae is one of the largest all-inclusive car forums in the region. If they were mad enough to organize a track morning in June then I was just going to have to man-up, Canon-up and get out there. Heads need examined….

The turn out was a lot larger than I had expected. Cars, drivers and spectators sheltered in the shade of the pit garage in perhaps a futile attempt to keep engine and brain temperatures down.

The format would be simple and drivers were split in to beginner and advanced groups. With such a diversity of cars being tracked in both groups, from a MINI to a race prepared Porsche, things were about to get very interesting.
