So enough of the previews – I have pulled my finger out and thanks to Ramzi we have some cool words to go with the pics. So as we mentioned, this Summer the Duel Racing Team decided to tackle their first ever twenty-four hour race on foreign soil at the 24 Hores de Barcelona. The Circuit de Catalunya, a stunning F1 track was to be the playground for the four drivers. Ramzi Moutran, Sami Moutran, Ala El Malak, Salman Al Khalifa and the crew were pushed to the max for three days, with three of the four drivers never having raced in a 24 hour event before.
As the team arrived in Barcelona they were met with a competitive Spanish spirit and a car stuck in customs. The latter was easily resolved, and what began as a bid to simply finish the race, slowly developed into a more competitive objective from the team.
Qualifying proved positive as Salman Al Khalifa, the professional driver in the team, managed to give them a great advantage starting in third place in their class, and only half a second off the pace in there class.
He managed to move the team up to second in class early on and all the drivers did well maintaining a good position, despite Ramzi Moutran out braking himself into a corner and finding some gravel. He managed to drive himself out only to find a couple of laps later the car did need to come in for a longer than anticipated stop. New brake Pads and half a role of Race tape later the Clio was ready to go. Luckily, Salman was the next driver out, and made up time bringing Team Duel Racing up a couple of spots. As the sun was setting the team was in a solid third position and second place was looking promising.
