The ever continual race to desimate the last Nurburging Lap Record continues unabaited between the heavy hitting manufactures. First Porsche, then Nissan, Dodge, back to Nissan and now Corvette engineer, Jim Mero, has gone and recorded a lap of 7:22.68 in the 2012 Corvette Z06 with the Z07 chassis package — 20 seconds better than the previous Z06 fast lap recorded in 2005.

We’ll give that a couple of months then until Porsche throws the GT3 RS 4.0 around there. Or maybe Nissan. Or. Or…
