After a long hiatus from the UAE Motorsports calendar, the most popular of all motorsports in the UAE is back. Yes track racing is huge, but when it comes to the sub culture, AutoX used to have it licked. Sadly it disappeared but the people have spoken and hopefully this is the beginning of something cool.
Organized by the EMSF the latest incarnation of the UAE AutoX Championship is designed to emphasize that fun and accessibility can be synonymous with safe and organized top level competitive Motorsports. The Championship will feature rounds in at least 5 Emirates in an effort to reach out to an entirely new audience, making it a true National Championship. Making it accessible to anyone with a car, a driver’s license and a willingness to put their driving skills to the test against some of the most competitive drivers in the UAE.
It may be early days but the potential to inject a healthy dose of new variety into the UAE Motorsports scene is quite an exciting prospect.
The UAE AutoX Championship schedule is as follows.. a little tight timing wise, but we hear the first date is a toe dipper.
1. 9th of September 2011 – Dubai
2. 18th of November 2011 – Al Ain
3. 3rd of February 2012 – Abu Dhabi
4. 16th of March 2012 – Fujeirah
5. 27th of April 2012 – Um Al Quwain
6. 4th of May 2012 – (Not Defined yet)
