As if Yas Marina hasn’t got anything else to focus on this weekend, the Abu Dhabi circuit has also released the starting line-up (ish) to the Gulf 12 Hours.

Perpetual contenders AF Corse and Black Falcon head the list with three Ferrari 458 GT3s and two Mercedes SLS AMGs respectively. The Ferrari makes a significant impact on the field, with Dragon Racing fielding two entries and former winners Kessel Racing bringing three cars. FF Corse completes the prancing horse representation.

A significant addition to the line-up is the Renaultsport RS01 from Equipe Verschuur, the first time the French track-based supercar has raced in the Middle East. To add some context French track missile packs a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 (derived from the Nissan GT-R), ‘over 500hp’ and ‘more than 600Nm’ (over 443lb ft). Though a ‘good run’ is what we can expect from a marketing perspective, a podium could well be on the cards.

The other significant addition to the entry list is the Nissan Nismo GT-R GT3, most commonly seen on regional turf during the Dubai 24 Hours with the Nissan GT Academy. Indeed, the GT-R GT3 placed second in-class last time out in Dubai with Florian Strauss (2013 GT Academy winner), Ricardo Sanchez, Ahmed Bin Khanen, Gaetan Paletou and Nick Hammann (2014 GT Academy North America winner). Avelon Formula again enters a duo of Wolf GB08 prototypes, whilst the Porsche 991 Cup is represented by MRS GT-Racing (times two), GDL Racing (times two) and a sole entry from Brookspeed. Motorbase runs the only Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the field.
