Mercedes-Benz unveils the new ‘sporty’ Coupé SUV
[Not a valid template]It seems the in-vogue thing for manufacturers at the moment is ‘fun’/sporty SUVs, designed to inject some colour into our otherwise drab lives and remind us that buying a familiar shifter need not be a sign for you to consider retirement options, your kids’ college education, and a little place in the country ‘just for weekends’. With the new ‘sporty’ Coupé SUV, Mercedes-Benz is the latest to give it a whirl.
On the face of it though, Merc does appear to have got it right with some strong curvaceous bodylines, 22-inch alloys and a 333hp 3.0-litre non-hybrid V6, even if it does insist on using terms like ‘Haute Couture’ and ‘Alu Beam paint finish’ in the official description (what’s wrong with just saying ‘silver’?) At present, the all-wheel drive SUV remains a design study, but expect some of the design hues to spread to the ML and GL in the months to come.
Oh, and in a further effort to emphasise its hip new style, Mercedes has gone the full Dark Knight with its teaser clip too…
