Now here’s a machine you don’t see every day. This stormtrooper-like hypercar is a Gemballa MIG-U1, a 691bhp collection of downforce built from a Ferrari Enzo. Spotted in Monaco by our man on the ground, Rafik Jabbour, the Dubai-registered MIG-U1 is clearly enjoying a holiday from the summer desert heat.
Just 25 of the MIG-U1s were built. Each features active aerodynamic components that add 35kg of downforce to the front end and 85kg to the rear. Power from the 6.0-litre V12 has been pushed up to 691bhp from 650bhp thanks to a new exhaust system and the roof-mounted air intake. Other features include a heigh adjustment system that raises or lowers the car by up to 45mm – useful for safely navigating speed bumps, bumpy roads and sleeping peasants.
The MIG-U1 was the last car completed by Gemballa‘s founder, Uwe Gemballa. Less than a year after the car was unveiled, Gemballa was found shot dead in South Africa, amid allegations of money laundering. Like or loathe the cars he and the company produced, it’s hard to argue against the MIG-U1 as the epitome of his work.
