Skoda will showcase a new design language for the SUV segment at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The new design – the VisionS – follows the complete renewal of Skoda’s model range in recent years, and marks the company’s next phase of development by broadening its range of SUVs.

Originally unveiled in 2014 as the VisionC design study, the new VisionS (‘S’ for SUV) is larger than the company’s flagship Yeti, measuring 4700mm in length and 1910mm. It also stands 1680mm high. Aesthetic changes though are far more striking. At the front, the bonnet relies on a creative use of plastics, with contours flowing towards the brand logo. Crystalline elements in the vertical struts to the grille and logo meanwhile are Skoda’s tribute to the Czech art of crystal-glass design. The wheel arches have been beefed out considerably, while deep grooves have been embedded over the sills down the flanks to emphasise the more masculine design. The seven-seater’s rear has been designed with a strong diffuser insert bordering the large exhaust pipes, giving as the company calls it ‘a visually powerful stance’.

Further details concerning the design study are unlikely to drop before its unveil in Geneva.
