BMW has unveiled the snappily titled i Vision Future Interaction concept at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, a model that previews the open-top i8 Spyder as well as BMW’s future in-car technologies.

Key elements of the i Vision include not only striking bodywork, a foldaway roof and no doors at all, but also a huge panoramic screen wrapping itself across the dash. Notifications and information imparted by the latter respond dynamically with the driver during autonomous driving (yes, it does that too) via ‘Air Touch’, a system that first appeared on the new BMW 7 Series allows users to interact with the display without actually touching the screen courtesy of motion sensor cameras.

The team behind the technology also suggests that navigation, parking options, air conditioning and traffic data can all be pre-loaded into the vehicle before a journey is started. BMW has even intimated at a technology that allows the car to pick up its driver automatically at a predetermined point. BMW though has revealed nothing in terms of technical and performance specifications.

Alongside the new BMW i8 concept, Faraday Future also unveiled the brand new 1000bhp all-electric FFZERO1 single-seater racer.
