If you’re the type of person that lives your life a quarter mile at a time and nothing else matters – “not the mortgage, not the store, not my team” – then you better have a sit down and get ready for some bad news.

The Fast and the Furious movies were all about the cars, and the respect. But one of the stars of the first movie, the yellow R33 GT-R (A.K.A. “”Big Bird“), was due to be crushed by the Department of Motors Vehicles (DMV) in Wisconsin on the 30th May.

Big Bird and another Skyline had been impounded back in 2010 for being illegally imported and have been on death row ever since despite numerous failed attempts by the owner and ardent fans to save them:
“I thought if I got in your good graces you might let me keep my car.”
“You are in my good graces, but you ain’t keepin’ your car.”

We are still waiting to hear if this story has a Hollywood ending and seconds before execution Big Bird gets a reprieve. It is looking unlikely as Wisconsin officials are clearly using this as an example of their zero-tolerance policy on grey imports.

Crushing these two Skylines seems such a shame, especially since a couple of Nissan RB26‘s would pull a premium one week before Race Wars….
…we may have watched the film a couple of times before we wrote this!
