After numerous teaser clips, Mercedes-AMG has finally unveiled the C 63 Coupé that will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show ahead of a global launch next year.

Set to rival the BMW M4, Audi RS5 and the Lexus RC F, Merc’s new Coupé uses the same 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 as found in the four-door model, which produces 476hp and 479lb ft in the base model, and a slightly loftier 510hp and 516lb ft in top spec ‘S’ trim. If you want some perspective on that, the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 AMG S can hit 100kph from standstill in 3.9 seconds, one tenth quicker than the saloon and about the same as Bentley’s new Continental GT3-R. Top speed is a predictably electronically limited 250kph, but ditch that and you’ll hit 290kph.

While the drivetrain remains identical – including the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission – underneath changes are afoot, including a wider track over the saloon. New wider wheel arches (64mm at the front, 66mm at the rear) house wider tyres (255mm at the front, 285mm at the rear) for added traction and improved acceleration. For added road holding, the Coupé also AMG-specific ‘Ride Control’ dampers and multi-link rear suspension have been added alongside extra body strengthening as part of Mercedes’ ‘complete redesign’ at the rear end over the saloon, including the sleek new sloping roofline, rooflip spoiler and quad exhausts.

Pricing has yet to be unveiled but expect around $94,000 for the base and $110,000 for the S. Oh, and if the below clip is anything to go by, a stonking soundtrack.
