New Lotus S Club Racer

Lotus unveils the new Exige S Club Racer, a lighter weight, track focused model based on the Norfolk company’s existing sports car.

If you’ve finished celebrating two decades of the Elise, there’s another track-focused Lotus to get excited about. An Exige this time.

More specifically the new Exige S Club Racer, a slightly less mental weapon than the Evora 400 the Norfolk-based company unveiled in Geneva. Based on the Exige that’s been available since 2000 – and, as we discovered recently, the Elise since the late ‘90s – the new Racer shaves a further 15kg from the already featherweight 1176kg of the Exige. This comes courtesy of a lightweight battery, centre console, doors and sports seats. The revised aero package, incorporating a new front splitter, rear wing and flat underbody helps produce 42kg of downforce at 160kph.

The new S Club (yeah, unfortunate name isn’t it) boasts a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 with no mention made of changes to the Exige S’ existing 345bhp and 295lb ft of torque. Available from $81K and only in coupe mode, the Lotus Exige S Club Racer hits 0-100kph in four seconds flat and a top speed of 274kph.
