Those of you not swayed by either the new Aston Martin AM-RB 001 or the one-off 458 MM Speciale might want to try this cheeky little minx on for size instead. Well, that is if Ferrari hadn’t already sold each of the unconfirmed number of examples they had planned to make.

This is the drop top we’ve been expecting from Maranello for quite some time, the new convertible LaFerrari (Italy couldn’t let Porsche monopolise the hybrid Spyder hypercar sector now could it?). Not that this will be its final name of course. Nope, that little nugget – along with confirmed technical and performance details – will be announced at this year’s Paris Motor Show. It’s unlikely though that anything particularly radical will have been done to the 6.3-litre V12 hybrid powertrain, or indeed the combined 950bhp and 715lb ft of torque power figures. At present, to showcase the ‘the joy of al fresco driving even when at the wheel of a supercar’ Ferrari hopes the new LaCabriolet will embody, the chassis has been stiffened for additional torsional rigidity now the roof has gone, while further tweaks have been made to the bodywork for further aerodynamic efficiency. Roof options include a soft top or a carbon fibre hard top.

Since there’s no teaser clip yet, remind yourself why a convertible LaFerrari could be the dog’s proverbial knackers with the below ‘dynamic’ video of the hard-top model in action at Fiorano.
