Lexus has confirmed that the GS F sports saloon will launch in the Middle East this month. The fourth ‘F’ performance range alongside the IS F, RC F coupe and the LFA supercar is also the first F-spec saloon since the IS F first appeared in 2007, and follows in the footsteps of the LC 500’s debut in Detroit.

Lexus’ performance saloon packs the same 5-litre naturally aspirated V8 as the RC F but kicks out 470bhp and 530Nm (391lb ft) of torque, aiming it squarely at the BMW M5, Audi RS6 and Mercedes-AMG E 63. Said powerplant is mated with an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission, and while the GS F sacrifices at least 80bhp to its rivals, a 1830kg kerb weight means the Japanese sport saloon is considerably lighter.

As well as power, the GS F also boasts wider tyre profile and Lexus’ Torque Vectoring Differential beneath the surface for improved traction, each of which was put to the test following extensive development work at the Nürburgring and Fuji Speedway. Significant aesthetic changes to the standard GS include new LED headlamps, a more aggressive bumper design, a deeper front grille, and larger 19in alloy wheels, as well as Active Sound Control, which electronically manipulates the engine noise for a more aggressive timbre.

Lexus is keen to emphasise though that the GS F will be more refined and less performance-focused than the RC F, meaning more supple chassis and suspension tweaks for day-to-day running.

Regional prices have yet to be confirmed for the GS F in the Middle East, although speculation suggests it will be around the $105,000 mark.
