The GTI International is an annual celebration of all things Volkswagen. Originally started just after the start of production of the Mk2 VW Golf GTI in 1988, ‘Inters’ is now in its 25th year. And suffice to say, held at Bruntingthorpe proving ground in Leicestershire (UK), it was bigger and better than ever!

This was helped by the fact that there were many aftermarket tuning companies on site, including Revo and Milltek. Volkswagen brought out a collection of Golf GTIs up to the new mk6 GTi Cabriolet. The was a large autojumble , a handling circuit and a drag setup open to all VAG cars.

Several owner’s clubs had stands and even the carpark had some impressive cars!  A show and shine brought out a lot of tastefully modified cars and some rarities including the Golf Country, a 4×4 based on the Mk II.

The atmosphere was friendly and everyone was keen to have a good time. Certainly for me it was worth the round trip from London, and I’m now greatly looking forward to next year’s event.
