A recent announcement from Ferrari will have just made 499 Maranello customers very happy.

After speculation rose that a 458 Speciale was on the way, Ferrari have announced that the convertible 458 Speciale A will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show. The new cabriolet marks a celebration of the track-focused 458, which took class victories at the 24 hour races at Le Mans (’12 and ‘14), Daytona (‘12) and Sebring (‘12), as well as a double Constructor’s Championships (‘12/’13) in the World Endurance Championship.

Powered by the same 4.5-litre V8 as found in its hardtop counterpart, the Speciale A is the most powerful Ferrari convertible yet, courtesy of 597bhp, 398lb ft of torque and a 46bhp/ton power-to-weight ratio. Such power equates to a flat three second 0-100kph time and a 1m 23.5s laptime around Fiorano, identical to the hardtop Speciale.

Styling changes – apart from the drop-top – include a unique triple-layer yellow livery with a Blu Nart and Bianco Avus central stripe as well as five-spoke forged wheels in Grigio Corsa. The race-inspired cabin also comes complete with blue carbon-fibre trim, newly-designed seats in Alcantara, and moulded door panels.
