Think ‘Chevrolet Impala’: what springs to mind first?

Seventies America? The declining trend of hemp and love beads, and the Elvis comeback? Cruising down Route 66, and the Great American road-trip? Mad Max (look closely, you’ll find it)? Ahem…Sharjah?

Maybe instead you think about a whacking great V8, quarter mile standing starts, an iconic name, a legendary body style, and a truly badass image. Perhaps looking at this example from 1973 you think about the final Impala convertible, Chevy’s top selling model for a decade, and a man by the name of John DeLorean in the company head office.

Some of our more dedicated readers may even think about the ’62 Impala we tripped over on our doorstep a few months ago.
