RAW // Time On My Hands
To win in motorsport, everything must run like clockwork. Before I get too carried away with clichés let’s crack on with the Race and Win watch range.
Having spent many years as a photographer on the motorsport scene, in 2009 RAW CEO Eric Fabre designed a watch he believed epitomized the charisma and precision indicative to racing. Look closely, for example, and in the ES1 you’ll see intricate sprockets inspired by those used in a full-sized gearbox, a rev-counter-esque dial layout, and even the odd chequered flag thrown in for good measure.
In 2010 Race and Win SA was established in Geneva, demand increasingly accordingly. The core of each watch made since has retained the same core mechanics: an unwavering delicacy fashioned using materials prevalent in motorsport design, including titanium and carbon fibre.
And of course, no unique/quirky new product to the market is complete without a special edition model, and RAW does not disappoint. Three series of the ‘ES1 Original’ are available, with only 50 of each made at a time. A limited edition RAW ES1 Marc VDS will also be produced in honour of technical partner Marc Van Der Stratten, whose Belgian outfit currently competes in the FIA GT1 World Championship.
Though you can’t expect too much change from your exclusive purchase, the inbox grapevine suggests orders are being filled quickly. Yes, we know, ‘tick, tock, tick, tock’ >>>
