Following on from our recent adventures at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Porsche very kindly offered to whisk us across country to get the full immersion treatment at their awesome Porsche Experience Centre based at the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, UK. What was initially destined to be a short hour and a half scoot across country from the south coast, ended up being a three hour shlep, however with great company and the comfort a Porsche Cayenne, the time skipped on by.

The centre, which is situated at the Silverstone Circuit, the home of British Motorsport and the recent British F1 race, was constructed on the site of the 1999 WRC Rally of Great Britain and is so close to the main circuit that you get a full view of the Hanger Straight from main building. Sounds promising so far then. As you walk through the front door, you are immediately faced with the Atrium, which is the central hub of the building, with all other rooms leading from it. It’s fair to say the room is very Porsche and with a lovely collection of old, new and motorsport metal on show, there is plenty of heritage and pedigree to get stuck into.

When it’s full inside (like it was), some specials get to spend time stuck outside in the rain. Like this stunning Porsche 356 coupe.

A great start to the facilities tour. How about a stunning 550 Spyder tucked away in the 917 Conference Suite? The room itself is predominantly used for presentations and training, however with cars like this tucked away in the corner, we aren’t too sure how many people would be fully focused.

After a whistle stop tour of the facility we gathered upstairs in the Porsche Restaurant, overlooking the test track, to receive our brief for the on track and physical activities. Yeah… physical activities! That’s what we thought.
