Strangely humbling, isn’t it?
We’re no strangers to abandoned cars in the Middle East, but the sight of nearly 50 MG saloons and hatchbacks parked and untouched outside a deserted showroom in Qatari’s capital Doha is something we didn’t expect to stumble across.
Turns out the Toyotas, Nissans and Chevrolets of this world have saloon car sales in the region nicely wrapped up, leaving MG out in the cold. Fallout with the dealership’s local importer doesn’t seem to have helped the company’s cause either.
Hence why this fleet of MG 3s, 550s and 6s – by the looks of it at least – have failed to turn a wheel since March. Indeed, speculation is that the fleet has been there since the area last enjoyed rain, and we’re going way back into ‘winter’ for that.
There is a ray of sunshine here. If you happen to be an MG enthusiast currently living in Doha, you may find this unexpected car meet mere inches from your door. All that’s needed is a chamois leather and a bucket of water, and a concourse event could be in full swing before you know it. Any volunteers…?
