As our two most recent excursions into the great beige yonder demonstrated, it’s always best to be well prepared for desert exploration: plenty of water; protection from the sun; directions across the plains; and constant communication with organisers and your fellow travellers.

The fact that we had none of these proved just how important they can be.

Land Rover has gone a step further though by creating an edible (yep, edible) survival guide for Arabian desert exploration, made from specially formulated paper and ink. Inside you’ll find the usual info on topography, and the dos and don’ts for indigenous animals. You can even signal for help with the guide’s reflective cover.

Nice work Land Rover. We assume the edible LR4 isn’t too far behind…?
