We made a step into the unknown recently at crankandpiston: for the first time, two-wheels took precedence over four as we brought you the Harley Davidson Softail Slim. A sign of things to come? Perhaps…

On The Road this week we’ve paid tribute to both former-Porsche Chief Designer Anatole Lapine and Carroll Shelby. We’ve marvelled at the Jaguar XJ Nurburgring taxi, Slovenia’s new supercar, and the Rimac Concept_One, as well as the cars of Beirut. We enjoyed some time with the Lexus GS350 F-Sport and the epic RAUH-Welt Porsche 993 Turbo, plus brought you snippets on the Nissan Juke R film Desert Nemesis and the workings of Pagani. During a busy few weeks we’ve welcomed a new member of the Management Fleet, been schooled by another, and bid farewell to a third in a very special way.

The Gulf Sport FG1000 kicked off On The Track business, with the D1GP Drift hot on its heels. The World Rally, World Touring Car, and World Endurance Championships have produced some stellar action, we’ve learnt about Alessandro Zanardi’s Paralympic bid and reported on the Pro Drag racing finale at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi. Those of you who aren’t Abdulaziz Turki Al Faisal might want to consider a cheap form of motorsport. Oh, and, want to see the latest race-spec Aston Martin V12 Zagato?

If the May Car Meet and a Porsche 911 in the Malibu Hills aren’t enough for you in Lifestyle this month, we’ve also brought you BMW Ultimate Drives, Classic Woodys and tips to craft your own Bugatti Veyron, as well as the Icon Bronco, an insight into Horacio Pagani and Maiham Media. Be sure to check out the Baremelon T-Shirts, and the coolest Mini ever ‘built’. And where oh where can we get one of these Transformers?!

Sideways drift action from Ferrari, Audi and AMG, as well as (ahem) a pink Porsche Carrera, got the Vision ball rolling. Since then we’ve brought you, among others, Jumpy Drifty Awesomeness, backstage preparation at the Red Bull X-Fighters, Jacques Villeneuve driving his father Gille’s Ferrari 312 T4, and Patrick Long’s moves in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0. And let’s not forget the Nissan Skyline GT-R.

Our new smartphoneography gallery has already tweaked your interest, as have our new and improved Shots Of The Day. And more and more high res images are making their way to our Gallery section.

A lot has changed at crankandpiston since the beginning of 2012. And we’re not finished yet.
