One would have thought that as we hit the halfway point of 2012 that road, track and lifestyle automotive business would slowly be grinding to a halt. But as it turns out, crankandpiston content is just as plentiful as they’ve ever been. Don’t believe me? If our weekly Hugo Boss Bottled Sport competitions aren’t enough to convince you, then check these out…

On The Road so far this month we’ve paid visits to Performance Motor Spares, Panda Performance and Alpha Logic. We’ve also taken a cheeky peak at the VW Scirocco GTS, the latest from Puritalia and the Vencer Sarthe. We’ve also brought you news on The Fast and The Furious Nissan Skyline R33, a Dubai-bound Mercedes C63 AMG Black, the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse and an ex-Steve McQueen Ferrari 275 GTB4. The Ferrari F12berlinetta‘s already hit the streets in Maranello, we’ve hit the streets of America in the Infiniti JX35, and pounded the off-road dust in the new Ford F150. Stay tuned for more news from our long term VW Golf GTi and Lexus CT200h – we’ve already set the Management Fleet Volkswagen Scirocco R a mighty challenge – and be sure to check out the next addition to our Driveway Heroes section.

On The Track kicked off with a bang in June with the Isle of Man TT from the sky and our own Le Mans 24hrs preview. We took a look at Daigo Sato‘s Lexus SC430, three Lancias from the passenger seat, and the Ferrari 599XX Evo. And while our own Management Fleet Chevrolet Sonic took to the track, so too did the SRT Viper GTS-R and Saudi’s Abdulaziz Turki Al Faisal. Our men on the ground here, there and everywhere have brought us shots on Dubai’s own Barrel Sprint and Sebastien Loeb Racing.

For Lifestyle we’ve showcased the Ferrari 16MM spotted in London and brought you nuggets on the exclusive Breitling Ice Speed Record Watch and Palawan Publishing, as well as the Fahrradi Farfalla FFX and the cars of tomorrow. The car chase fans among you will hopefully have enjoyed The Theory and FStoppers. But if deconstructing cars is more your thing, you may have got a kick out of the clay Jaguar XF and the works of Paul Veroude. We were particularly proud to bring you a guest blog from Artiste Peintre Cathy Deniset, and the first part of crankandpiston’s pilgrimage to the Nurburgring went down particularly well. The Project 4 Porsche 912 is nearing completion.

Our ever-expanding Vision section has brought us a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, into the heart of Koenigsegg and on a timelapse Road Trip. We thought Daniel Michaelis’ Mercedes SLS AMG shoot and all-weather drifting were pretty epic, and the Mercedes 300SL had many of us champing at the bit for more. We hope the Mk1 VW Jetta, the twin-turbo Aventador and the Toyota 86 at Yas Island will keep you all entertained until our next fortnightly round-up.

As ever we’ve made sure to bring you Shots of the Day and updated Galleries to make sure your daily automotive dose is as awesome as possible. We hope you’ll enjoy the pieces that are still to come.
