The days tick by and the mercury continues to rise. We shouldn’t complain though. So far 2012 has given us some memorable moments, as these hitherto unseen images demonstrate:

Our own Phil McGovern could hardly control his excitement when he went to visit Jon Simmonds and his BMW E30 M3. Many of us noticed the same glint in his eye when we took the new F10 BMW M5 for a spin through the Al Hatta mountains.

There’s been several new additions to the crankandpiston fold as of late. When the new VW Scirocco R rolled into the car park though, there was a definite sense of de ja vu. Made us wonder when we’ll next see the crankandpiston ‘Rocco on a jaunt with the Porsche 991.

It seemed nothing could be better than a Sunday afternoon drive to the coast in a Jaguar XK. The Jaguar XFR though took us for an entirely different ride, and that’s left us wondering what another high-powered Big Cat might have been like to spend some time with.

Not too were alike when we took part in Chevrolet’s inaugural Chevy Knights Camaro event in our own Management Fleet edition. With so much individuality and awesome machinery doing its best to grab the limelight, it brought to mind another altogether different event.

We were excited and terrified in equal measure when we let the Mercedes C63 AMG loose on the roads. For sheer lunacy, there’s little we’ve featured on crankandpiston that comes close. Then again, one or two do spring to mind.

The Lexus GS350 F-Sport threw up just as many questions as it answered. Much as the Maybach Exelero and last year’s Dubai Motor Show did once the doors opened.

Be sure to check out crankandpiston for further trips down memory lane.
