Our digital team has been cruising the archive picture library again. In doing so they stumbled across some hidden gems that have yet to hit the light of day. Until now…

We’ve been hitting the drift scene recently, checking out UAE Drift action from the Dubai Autodrome and the King of Europe competition. As well as drift action at Yas Marina, over the years at crankandpiston we’ve also brought you coverage of the Auto X and the British Drift Championship.

The Le Mans 24hrs is over and done with for another year, and time with Saudi Arabia driver Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal has provided crankandpiston with some amazing insight into the event. That reminds us of the last time we were in the endurance racing paddock at the Gulf 12hrs, and how could we forget about the Dubai 24hrs, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and the Daytona 24hrs.

Our man on the ground in London has brought us shots of the FAB Design McLaren MP4-12C Terso, which got us thinking about the last time we spent time with the McLaren MP4-12C in the Hajar mountains. Let’s not forget the time we spent with the Shelby GT 500, the Aston Martin Rapide, the BMW 1M/Porsche Cayman R and the Bentley Mulsanne.

The Middle East motorsport season may be over, but that hasn’t stopped us checking out the automotive talent still at large in the area. Recently we found this Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but we’ve also brought you pics on the R32 Skyline, AC Cobra, the world’s oldest Bentley and the Lamborghini Aventador.

We were invited to check out the new Dubai Caffe in Dubai, an evening in which we met former MotoGP Champion Nicky Hayden. That got us thinking about our previous talks with Vitaly Petrov, Marc Gene, Christian Horner, Edward Sandstrom and Sean Edwards.

We set our Management Fleet Volkswagen Scirocco R an awesome challenge against a tuned BMW 118i and a Range Rover Evoque. Anybody remember our former fleet recruits, the BMW 550i, the Mini Mayfair, the VW Passat CC and the Mercedes ML 350?
