On The Road recently we’ve enjoyed a hoon in the new BMW 335i, a not-so leisurely cruise in the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, and a three day epic adventure in a Jaguar XJ220. We made sure our photoshoot of BMW’s new 6 Series Gran Coupe hit the perfectly lit spot, wondered how one thrashes a limousine, and taken to the dunes aboard an ex-Top Gear Toyota Hilux. During this busy period we’ve also had a scout at the first Arab supercar, been wowed by the new more powerful Audi R8 Plus, been teased by the new Arrinera Automotive, gazed googly-eyed at the McLaren cars of the future, see power redefined in the Manhart Racing MH5 S biturbo, and felt our lower jaws crash to the floor before the uber rare Enzo Gemballa. We also brought you the latest instalment in our Driveway Heroes segment – a Mitsubishi Evo X – and some of us have spent more time with the Management Fleet Infiniti G37S than anticipated.

The 12th running of the 24 hours of Spa-Francorchamps have dominated On The Track as of late, and our men  on the ground have brought you news and pics from the build-up, event qualifying, the opening laps, and made sure to keep you up-to-date during the race and come the chequered flag. But we also had time for a chat with Walther Lechner, head of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East. We thought you might be interested in Honda’s new World Touring Car Championship engine, thoughts from ex-Sebring 24hrs winner John Morton, a turbocharged Porsche Boxster at Gatebil, coverage of the Red Bull X-Fighters event in Spain, and the 850hp twin-turbocharged NSX due to take on Pikes Peak. You local boys and girls may also want to read parts one and two of our Toyota Emirates Drifting Team feature.

Our big Lifestyle piece comes courtesy of the McLaren Group and Chief Test Driver Chris Goodwin, but we figured we’d also celebrate the Nissan Skyline, check out ‘the barnstormers‘, and bring you a remix of our purple chrome Lamborghini Aventador video.

We brought you some classic Formula One moments for the German and Hungarian Grand Prix in Vision ahead of the series’ five-week summer break, but the Chevrolet Impala’s first NASCAR victory, Stephen Brook’s latest offering and 58 Ferrari F40s raised a collective eyebrow throughout the office. We took a gander at the new hybrid Porsche 918 supercar testing at the Nurburgring, contemplated a sexy Dodge, re-affirmed our appreciation of Vossen Wheels, mused on the grassiest of grass roots drifting, and wondered where we can grab shots like this. Oh, and did anybody see crankandpiston’s footage in Nissan’s latest video?

But that’s not all. Our Galleries are being updated everyday, our live Red Bull Stream will help you while away an hour or two, and are you wondering what our next Shot of the Day will be?

Stay tuned with crankandpiston throughout August as we turn up the heat.
