Hard to believe that 2012 is only two weeks old. Already this year we’ve brought you news about BMW’s impending 6-Series Gran Coupe, the new Porsche Boxster, and spent time with the awesome Mercedes C350. If happening upon a Datsun 240Z, a 1962 Chevrolet Impala, and a beautiful Porsche 356b weren’t enough, we’ve also welcomed two new additions to the crankandpiston team. The Nissan Juke has already been reunited with its lunatic brother, the Juke-R, while the third generation Toyota Yaris was put through its paces during our upcoming Maserati shoot. There’s been no let up for the VW Scirocco long termer either, which was on call for the Dubai 24Hr race.
As well as bringing you the build-up to, beginning of and conclusion to the Dubai 24Hr, crankandpiston went behind the scenes to bring you exciting news from the paddock and on the grid. The 2012 Dakar Rally hasn’t been forgotten either, while sneak peaks of the latest Scion FR-S and Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 machinery have helped keep anticipation of the new motorsport season high.
We’ve also been busy digging out some of the quirkier aspects of the automotive industry, bringing you the finest examples of Mustang pool tables, 100kph radio-controlled cars, and vehicular-themed t-shirts. If that’s not enough, we’ve taken time out to help promote a competition for ex-BMW Design director Chris Bangle’s new book as well as our new downloadable wallpapers, all while looking for the next special Shot Of The Day.
If this two weeks is anything to go by, the rest of 2012 looks set to be a great year for crankandpiston. And we hope you’ll continue your support.
