The automotive world recently lost Ferdinand Porsche. And almost without realising it, bit by bit during the last two weeks, crankandpiston has been paying tribute to the father of the 911. See if you can spot where…

Things got off to a pretty good start when we took the Jaguar XFR out for a spin, climaxing with a run in the monstrous/sophisticated Mercedes C63 AMG. We took the Management Fleet Chevrolet Camaro SS out into the real world, and brought another – Project 4 – one step closer to its overdue debut. We spoke with Fadi Tammour about his ridonculous 700+hp Pontiac GTO and welcomed a special ‘longma’ edition Ferrari 458 Italia to the automotive fray. We also threw in a Mercedes SL65 AMG Black, a historic 911 and a couple of heritage Porsches for you too.

The UAE Touring Car Championship drew to a close in exciting fashion, and the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge took it’s toll, but if recent World Touring Car, World Rally, FIA GT1and Formula Drift Championships are anything to go by, the international season’s going to be a belter. Don’t think we’ve swept regional interest under the rug though, our nods to the latest Red Bull Car Park Drift event and a flame spitting Toyota Supra in Bahrain being proof of that. We’ve also demonstrated why British Touring Cars might be worth paying attention to, and paid our respects to Gilles Villeneuve 30 years on.

Headlining ‘Lifestyle’ is the RAUH-Welt Porsche 993TT, the finished product a sight to behold. Saying that, a trip to the Cote D’Azur in the new Porsche Boxster gave Mr Nakai a run for his money. And even though we’ve spent time window-shopping slickattire T-shirts, piston cufflinks and Ayrton Senna TAG-Heuer watches, we haven’t neglected our Vision and Gallery sections, nor our Shots Of The Day. We’ve even given away free tickets to the recent Red Bull X-Fighters event.
Did you spot it…?
